Starbird Lounge Cookies

My friends opened the raddest little cocktail bar in Western MN.

The Starbird Lounge, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, has the coziest atmosphere in town and the best drinks I’ve personally ever had (seriously — the Heated Pool has my undying allegiance). To celebrate their hard work, I gifted them a set of custom cutout sugar cookies featuring hints of Starbird’s branding.

Psst, you should really go check them out, frfr.

A few Easter Eggs

If you’re local to the area and you’ve followed Starbird from the beginning, this pattern might feel familiar to you.

I recreated this gorgeous feature wall with a cut out pattern and an x-acto knife. It was an arduous process, much like I bet it was cutting this wall IRL. LOL.

Something I wish I had done was use a zester to refine the edges of the cookies. Pro tip for next time. ;)

The Starbird branding is absolutely DIVINE and one of my favorite pieces is the marquis sign that Adam created (you can even get some merch with that design on it). It’s such a joyful design, and so I was determined to incorporate it into the cookies somehow. To do this, I used an icing transfer.

This one is for me. When I was a kid, I remember my grandparents having the coolest barrel furniture in the 3-season porch, I bet if you search your memory you know the exact ones I’m talking about (otherwise, check this out). We’d sit in those chairs and play cards for hours and the pattern is a permanent fixture in my memory.

Anyway, the aesthetic of Starbird’s branding reminded me of this pattern from that furniture so I recreated it in cookie form. Bonus: if you tilt the image to the side, the diamond shape matches the one from their branding.
